Help us re-unite a family separated by war
DonateOne family’s heart-wrenching story of loss and rediscovery.
Three young children lost their parents when a militia attacked their village in Congo. They searched for them for years afterwards, before giving up hope.
Then, over twenty years later, after coming to Canada as refugees, they heard incredible news: their lost mother and father were alive, living in a refugee camp in Uganda, in need of help.
We sponsored the three siblings to resettle in Canada in 2017. Since learning of their wonderful discovery, we have worked to reunite the entire family under our sponsorship. We are overjoyed to report that in the late spring of 2024, after years of waiting, their long-lost parents, four new siblings (one now married) and three nephews arrived in Canada.
This journey has been made possible through the generous support of many donors, but our work is not yet complete. Sponsors must provide ongoing financial support to newcomers over the course of their first year in Canada, while they do the hard work of adjusting to life in a new world. With your help, we can continue to provide the assistance necessary to ensure that they thrive as new Canadians.
Please help us by making a tax-deductible donation to our partner, MCC-Canada, to support our ongoing sponsorship of this family’s resettlement and reunion in Toronto.
